What Is the Web Flasher?
The Web Flasher is a browser-based firmware update tool built on the Web Serial API. It lets you connect your device via USB and flash the latest Meshtastic firmware with just a few clicks — right from Chrome or Edge. No drivers, no command line, no desktop app needed.
Two Flasher Tools, One Workflow
We maintain two separate flasher instances tailored to each product line:
- mtoolstec.com/flasher — supports nRF52840 and ESP32 devices, including the GAT562 Tracker and the ESP32 UART Bridge expansion board.
- meshtiny.com/flasher — dedicated to Meshtiny nRF52840 devices running Meshtastic firmware.
Supported Devices & Chipsets
Both flashers currently support:
- nRF52840 — flashed via Nordic HCI DFU over USB CDC ACM (1200bps serial reset to enter bootloader)
- ESP32 (MTools Tec flasher only) — flashed via
esptool-jsover Web Serial
How to Flash in 3 Steps
- Select your firmware — choose your device and firmware version from the dropdown. The flasher fetches the latest available builds automatically.
- Enter DFU mode — click the Enter DFU Mode button to reboot your device into its bootloader, or double-tap the reset button manually.
- Connect & Flash — click Connect USB Serial, select your device from the browser port picker, then hit Flash Firmware.
